Trailblazers Navigation Activity Kit

Hiking is fun and safe as long as you remain "found." Our Trailblazers Activity Kit teaches kids how to follow a trail, use a compass, read a map and learn the skills shared by all well-trained wilderness lovers. Introduce kids to these key trailblazing skills, and you've opened up a lifetime of safe, outdoor fun. A wonderful illustration of wilderness safety!

Ages 8 and up.

Unit Goals and Concepts: 

• Introduce the basics of trailblazing skills.
• Become familiar with trail signs.
• Learn about map and compass basics.
• Utilize these skills in a cooperative project.

Materials Included: 

• A pound of foreign coins (kids learn compass skills by locating coins from around the world that you've hidden... they even get to keep their booty) and cloth bags for participants to collect their coins in.
• Three Traveling Compasses and assorted maps for learning the basic "trailblazing" skills.
• Trail Signs sheets and a Coins of the World booklet for reference.
• Our exclusive Trailblazers instructor's activity guide that details the four key methods of trailblazing (clues, trail signs, maps and compasses) and provides loads of game ideas.

For groups larger than 25, simply add extra foreign coins, cloth bags and traveling compasses on to your order (see below).
