This extensive collection features examples of fibers derived from animals (hair and silk), plants (natural plant fibers), and man-made materials. Natural animal fibers include both fiber and textile examples of: Angora (rabbit), Cashmere (goat), Mohair (goat), Wool (sheep), Alpaca, Camel, Llama, and Silk (silkworm). Natural vegetable fibers include both fiber and textile examples of: Bamboo, Banana, Coconut, Cotton, Flax, Hemp (both raw and de-gummed), Jute, Ramie, and Sisal. Bio-synthetic fibers include Lyocell Fiber and textiles of Lyocell, Modal, and Rayon plus fiber and textile samples of Seacell, Corn, and Soy. Synthetic fibers are represented by Acrylic, Modacrylic, Nylon, Olefin, Polyester, and Spandex. The aramids feature Kevlar, Nomex, and Twaron. All samples are fully labeled and come displayed in a 12" x 16" exhibit.
