Rock Cycle Display
Rocks and minerals come in countless forms and structures, but they all result from natural recycling through combinations of weathering, compression, heating, melting and cooling. This unique 8" X 12" presentation goes beyond just classifying all rocks as either Igneous, Sedimentary or Metamorphic, yet simplifies the transition between these forms by using color-coded arrows to represent the changes. Melting (red arrows) forms magma from any of the rock groups - cooling of magma (blue arrow) forms igneous rocks - weathering and erosion (green arrows) form sediments from any group - compacted and cemented sediments (black arrow) form sedimentary rocks - heating and pressure combined (orange arrows) form metamorphic rocks. A must-have visual aid that allows students to see the simplicity of a process that often seems very complicated through text and charts alone.
