Dichotomous keys are used to classify and identify objects or living organisms. Guide students through the process of using keys with several real-world examples, just like scientists! Includes seven different activities, ranging from easy to challenging and basic to scientific, allowing students of differing abilities to readily learn to use a key. Culminating activities include Constructing a Tree Key to Your Own School and Using a Dichotomous Key to Identify Seashells using scientific names. Seashells are included. Allow up to five class periods to complete activities. Required, but not included: Colored pencils or crayons.
