Imagine being on an archeological dig and discovering the rich cultural history of Native Americans. Kids will learn to discern the lifestyles of pre-industrial cultures and compare them to our own society. Our exclusive Archaeology Adventure Activity Kit recreates this incredible experience anytime and anywhere!
Set up a simulated dig site complete with fragmented pottery that must be pieced together, beads, arrowheads, shells and even a bunch of animal bones (leading to discussions about dietary habits). We even include a professional-quality screen for sifting out key findings. Then, participants will have the opportunity to create their own necklace with a real arrowhead and beads.
Ages 4 and up.
Unit Goals and Concepts:
- Present information about early cultures.
- Simulate archaeological work (and fun!).
- Create a necklace with an arrowhead like the Native Americans had.
- Compare pre-industrial cultures to modern society.
- Encourage cooperation and imaginative, interactive activity.
Materials Included:
- Arrowheads to be used in the "dig" and then for making necklaces.
- Beads, shells, fragmented pottery, and replica animal bones to be used in the "dig."
- A sturdy and durable screen for sorting out findings.
- Our exclusive instructor's activity guide that makes planning the project easy and delivers loads of fun ideas for activities, games and relevant projects.
- The only materials you supply are scissors, sorting boxes, and digging tools.
For groups larger than 25, simply order extra arrowheads, beads, shells or digging screens (see "Accessories" below).
